It's about a girl who just keeps taking her husband back....after she finds out that he's an imposter....after she finds out he used to be a woman (shapechanger)....after he's dead....sort of...

That actually sounds passive, and if you think of an agrarian society....she probably wouldn't be out of the norm.

Not if she faces a lot of opposition from neighbors or other people who suspect that Something's Not Right, though.
