j_cheney: (Dogs of War)
The dog went in to get stitches removed yesterday, but the vet held off, saying they needed to cook for a couple more days. She also had to get an abcess on her shoulder (where she got an injection during the surgery) cleaned out, so more medication. The dog, however, is taking this in stride. As far as she can tell, she's back to normal. It's all good.

Progress on The Inheritance of Fire. This is the October story, but I want it done soon (so I can work on November and December) Thoughts on goals for next year? Probably not 10 short stories. Wow, this has been killer. 7 maybe?

The icon above was actually a part of a larger monument: The British "Animals in War" monument in London. Since I'm a particular fan of Cavalry and Lighthorse (yes, I know they were Aussies), this was an extremely cool monument for me.

So, we're watching the tape of Sunday night's episode of Mystery. It's the last of the Inspector Lynley Series 5. With about 10 minutes to go, the suspect is walking out to the car. He is being chased by the girl Nina whose family he murdered back in Bosnia, who is in turn being followed by Lynley's wife Helen (a psychologist). Lynley, having just learned that they do have enough evidence to charge the killer runs down they stairs after them. Havers is driving to get back to the station.

Nina confronts the killer, and pulls out a gun. Helen tries to reason with her.

Screen goes black.
For a minute or so, followed by "One Moment Please" sign.

After a few minutes, a brief flash of something comes back for a few seconds....a funeral....

"One Moment Please" returns.

Grrr.....
