Really bad timing....

So, we're watching the tape of Sunday night's episode of Mystery. It's the last of the Inspector Lynley Series 5. With about 10 minutes to go, the suspect is walking out to the car. He is being chased by the girl Nina whose family he murdered back in Bosnia, who is in turn being followed by Lynley's wife Helen (a psychologist). Lynley, having just learned that they do have enough evidence to charge the killer runs down they stairs after them. Havers is driving to get back to the station.

Nina confronts the killer, and pulls out a gun. Helen tries to reason with her.

Screen goes black.
For a minute or so, followed by "One Moment Please" sign.

After a few minutes, a brief flash of something comes back for a few seconds....a funeral....

"One Moment Please" returns.

Grrr.....

It never fails.
I's the same rule by which show ends a season with a cliffhanger and when the new season begins, football overruns the first half hour and, "We now rejoin our regular programming, already in progress..."

And after looking around, I've discovered that this ewpisode isn't based on one of the books....or at least, there isn't a book with a cooresponding name...drat!
