Several friends of mine have been having the blows coming in hard and heavy recently, so rejection hs been on my mind. We often can't predict how we'll feel when it hits. And needless to say, some people are better psychologically suited to handle rejection than others (which can be said about telemarketing, as well) and they deal with it more easily, letting it just slide off their backs (duck/water analogy there for anyone who missed it.)

Any brilliant panaceas out there for wounded spirits?

Mostly, I just shrug, although some of 'em get me down (particularly if I really-really like the story).

It depends on the nature of the rejection comments, too.

Once, I had a story rejected as not being "science fiction." My story took place on another moon of another planet far, far away and focused on a new science. The market made reference to my story by name...so I don't think they mixed it up with another one...but that left me scratching my head and wondering about subbing to that market again... I could understand not liking my story...but it not being science fiction???

That's just weird. I'd be wondering if they were doing drugs or something...
