Well, I copped out and sent that story I was holding for Black Gate somewhere else. Since it's epic fantasy, and 10K, the number of markets is somewhat limited, but I thought I'd give IGMS a try first. I also have a second story that I consider semi-submitted, so I'm going to call that 5 stories out.

OK, not so impressive, but that's 4 more than I had a couple of months ago.

So:
Sold--5
Out--5
Working On--2
Trunked--4
Uncertain future--3
Total Shorts Written or in Progress: 18

You do the math.

Anyhow, I'm trying. Of the 7 stories I've written this year so far, I have 4 out, 1 In Progress, 1 Trunked, and 1 Uncertain Future. (One was written for a specific venue and didn't sell, so trunked. One I just can't get to work properly now.)

Played hacky-sack with the dogs again today. Loki can't seem to get the 'kill' part of his mindset to turn off. He wants to kill the hacky-sack and only reluctantly surrenders it. Freya, on the other hand, immediately drops it after she catches it. She doesn't see any point to bringing it back to me, as it will simply prolong the silly game.

ETA: And I forgot, I got a nice review at SF Signal today. Thanks so much to [livejournal.com profile] pabba for giving me the heads up on it...I wouldn't have seen ift for a while otherwise. ;o)

Loki and Freya, those are great names. Freya is money if you are ever looking to include a goddess in a world setting, but I am sure you already know that.

I do, however, have to point out that anyone who names a dog Loki has only themselves to blame if he keeps trying to kill the hackysack.

Yeah, I know. The god dog of mischief, fire and destruction. He hasn't managed the fire yet, but he has the other two down perfectly.

Heh. Recently reread DWJ's "Eight Days of Luke." Your dogs would not doubt appreciate it.
