So, I've sent off my submission for FenCon's WW, done all my critiques for ArmadilloCon, and made some good progress re-writing "Shared Dreams." I should have a rough draft of that done today so I can read it through tonight.

I've gotten several critiques on AMOD, but I really haven't read most of them yet (except for the 'no guns' commentary.) This is one of those stories that I fear may fall into the classification of 'sitting on The Trunk'.

I do have a couple of stories sitting IN The Trunk. They deserve to be there, and I don't feel any particular attachment to them. "Sitting ON The Trunk" however, means that I don't want to give up on the story...I just don't have the time or the will to fix them right now. "The Bear Girl" and "Arranged Marriage" have been there for a bit. I like both stories---I just can't seem to get them to work. I'm beginning to believe that AMOD might be in that group as well. ::sigh::

I hates trunking things....

Some things need not be trunked, but only hacked and slashed to the point where their own mama (namely, you) wouldn't recognize them. I recently realized that something I've been stuck on for lo, these many weeks needs to have the beginning completely rewritten.

As Monk would say, I'll thank me latter.

Yes, I just have too many other things I should be writing right now to lavish time on my sickly children.

Well, they're there, though. They'll be there when your ready and you do have time, so I think that's all right.

The editing thing really is a process, too, and I think that in the meantime, your inner editor or muses, or whatever we use for this part of it, is getting a chance to figure things out.

Having the stories is the main thing, though. So, you're doing fine!

Well, it's nice to know that they didn't get a 'flush them down the toilet review' at any point.

When I find time for them, I'll probably work on them--that may not be fore a long time, though.

You are writing a great deal, I mean 10 shorts in a single year plus everything else is huge. There is no doubt that there will be good ones as well as not so good ones in this. All you can do is revel in all the great reviews you have had on your published work. I have seen so many wonderful things in your writing, and I look forward to seeing more. No matter what, even the best authors are going to have stories that just don't work. And I can't wait for the re-write of Shared Dreams! Too bad you are going to make me wait for the posting on Baen's Bar.

It's going slowly. I'm changing the POV, which means that all the character arcs change....and the structure has to be completely re-thought. It's going to take me a bit, but I think it'll be worth it in the end.
