j_cheney: (Hurry...)
Sundays are often crazy busy for me, and yesterday kept me hopping. But I did squeeze in the read-through on a new 9K story I'm sending out today. (Yes, [livejournal.com profile] rcloenen_ruiz you don't have to nag me now.)

Story's going out to Paradox, so wish it luck. I've never subbed there before!

Also, have mailing to do, the bug guy coming today, and a student coming by for tutoring. I can work around those.

[livejournal.com profile] displacedtexan is going to the doc again today to get a second round of antibiotics. We thought he was over the Australian flu, but the chest congestion has come back. Oh, and I found out I was in the local paper last week regarding the WOTF thing. One sentence from me, 3 about the contest, 2 about the mayor. I'm not getting excited over that. (I've actually gotten more coverage when my students have won something in the past, so this is no biggie--more of a blurb.)

Monday morning, I'm putting finishing touches on story...

[livejournal.com profile] displacedtexan makes an appointment for the doctor, goes there, fills gas-tank on way back, backflow valve doesn't work and pours gas all over his dress shoes, he drops off his prescription anyway, comes home and eats lunch while I clean his shoes, he goes to pick up prescription, car alert panels all light up, he drives to dealership, I go to change out cars with him, he drives on to important meeting....which turns out to be webcast, and he could have just done it at home! He's had a tough day.

Turns out the gas overflow set off a bunch of sensors in the carbon filter....that simply had to be reset, so I rescheduled my 1:00 appt and everything worked out.

The Pre-Cal student I'm tutoring is working on translation, reflection, and stretching of functions.....a topic very few students really seem to grasp ever, so I felt safe reassuring her that she's not dumb for not getting it right off the bat. She got the basics down, and I sent her on her way with my e-mail for homework assistance.

BTW, I'm extremely pleased with the case I purchased for teh laptop--so much so that I purchased one for [livejournal.com profile] displacedtexan today from the same company.

And after much delay, my laptop skin arrived today....from Warsaw (despite all the web indicators showing the company in Dublin). Pretty stamps....Any philatelists in the house?

ETA: Already snabbled up ;o)

ETA: And big congrats to [livejournal.com profile] garunya on his finalist placement!
