Various and Sundry
Apr. 3rd, 2008 07:17 amI finally got to finish Flowertongue by
jess_ka last night. Finish, you ask? Well, I got to hear her read most of the story last year (in Austin), but finally got the rest as it just became available at Farrago's Wainscot.
I was not disappointed. The story finished out in lovely style, with the elegant words carrying through to the end--the kind of ending of which I heartily approve. Definitely worth a read!
The author is subtle, a trait seriously undervalued in fiction these days.
In other news, I got 3 new Tyler Candles, and have varying reports as to their scents.
1) Orange Vanilla, a nice enough fragrance, but it evokes 'restaurant bathroom' in my mind. Nice restaurant bathroom, but still....
2) Cowboy smells like a leather shop. Very pleasant, but not as strong as I'd like.
3) Snickerdoodles, drooling, a la Homer Simpson...It is SOOOOO good! Moving to the list of favorite scents along with Mulled Cider and Patchouli...
Finally, I think I may have scratched my cornea with a defective lens this morning. No hurty, but my right eye sees like it has vasoline in it. Blech!
