Sceance needed....any volunteers?
Sep. 18th, 2007 08:36 amSo, I'm reading a book in French by one of my favorite authors, Ansen Dibell, and I'm admittedly struggling a bit. I'm not fluent and, at times, a French-English dictionary just doesn't cut it.
Last night, I got online just to peek around regarding availability of book 4 in the series, and discovered only 2 copies available, both in France, at 55 and 80 euros....too rich for me. However, I also stumbled across a reference to the 4th book in the now-deceased author's memorial guestbook.
So, I skip over to the Funeral Home's guestbook and discover that the reference came from a gentleman to whom the author had evidently given not only a computer file of the 5th book in English, but also a photocopy of the fourth book (evidently no computer file for it exists?). So I e-mail the lucky guy and explain that I'm reading the 5th book in French and ask if he would be willing to give me a copy of the computer file (so I can basically double-check my mental translation).
He responds:
I don't believe that I am allowed to share it. You should ask her.
Now remember...I only know that he has it because he left a note about it in the on-line funeral guestbook.
