j_cheneyIt's weird when you're doing things like revising and critiquing....you don't produce anything, so after hours and hours, you don't have any product. Ick!
Spent a very long time finishing the last of my FenCon critiques, then hours revising Shared Dreams. Posted it on the Bar. Not entirely certain about the ending. It's better than it was, but I'll have to look at it again after I've gotten some mental distance.
Was thinking about my last posting there and thought "It's been close to a month and I haven't gotten anything (other than one comment)" I went back and looked-- and it's only been two weeks. My grasp of time is obviously poor.
Anyhow, got a rejection from F&SF this week-end, and the mss is already back off to another market. (It's the story that I said JJA wouldn't like. "I was glad to see a new story from you, but though I found this tale well-written, the idea didn't grab my interest, I'm afraid.") Never really thought it would, but I figured on the off-chance it might, I'd better send it there. Plus, he's fast!
Some progress on the Oct and December stories. Doing more research and discovered a flaw in the architectural layout of one of my houses mentioned in The Dragon's Child. One sentence, but some expert in Chinese architecture is going to catch me out on it. If IGMS refuses it, I can fix it before shipping it off to some other market.
