I'm not going to get much writing done today, but that's OK.

Picked up this thought which is from [livejournal.com profile] nballingrud, which I got from [livejournal.com profile] jess_ka via Jeff Vandermeer. (At least, I think that's the channel it came through).

No one's keeping score, folks. Really. Stop writing so {expletive deleted} much. Take your time. Play with the language a little bit. Flesh out a character or two. That paragraph right there? ... come on, you know that's cliche. Think a little harder. Write less. Write better.

Now, partially, I like this sentiment because I'm such a slow writer. I have to think for a long time. While normal people are sending out their summer stories, I'm still cogitating over my April one...yep, April is still in the marsupial pouch, it's small and furless. Anyhow, this is one of those dissenting voices that seems to go against the produce-produce norm, and it's kinda nice to hear it said aloud.

Now if only I could say that I write slowly because I'm doing the above...perhaps that's something to strive for. ;o)

So today, I get a spam with this as the subject line...

Never again will you be capable of love, or friendship, or joy of living, or laughter, or curiosity, or courage, or integrity.

Ouch! That's harsh!

And I don't even think the stock-tip inside was a good one!
I'm going back to fortune cookies...
