Memorial Day
May. 28th, 2007 08:28 pmWatched Arlington: Field of Honor this evening with husband and in-laws. Arlington is a gorgeous, peaceful cemetery. The last time we were in DC, I spent about three hours walking through it. I spent most of that time in the civil war graves, but also walked among the graves of the larger dignitaries. I happened upon the then-recent graves of Thurgood Marshall and General Omar Bradley. It was a wonderful experience. The next time I'm in DC, I'll actually see if I can catch the changing of the guard.
I hope that anyone who has a family member in the military in Iraq or Afghanistan has cause to celebrate with them on Veteran's Day this year, instead of remembering them on next Memorial Day.
