Memorial Day

Watched Arlington: Field of Honor this evening with husband and in-laws. Arlington is a gorgeous, peaceful cemetery. The last time we were in DC, I spent about three hours walking through it. I spent most of that time in the civil war graves, but also walked among the graves of the larger dignitaries. I happened upon the then-recent graves of Thurgood Marshall and General Omar Bradley. It was a wonderful experience. The next time I'm in DC, I'll actually see if I can catch the changing of the guard.

I hope that anyone who has a family member in the military in Iraq or Afghanistan has cause to celebrate with them on Veteran's Day this year, instead of remembering them on next Memorial Day.

My story "A Hand for Each" has been purchased for the Shimmer Pirate Issue! I've been collecting good thoughts and prayers for this story for some time, and the wonderful and patient guest editor, JJA, let me know tonight that he accepted it. YAY!!

I REALLY wanted to get into this issue and researched my butt off (although when I look over my shoulder, I see that it's regrown in the interim...rats!) because I knew nothing about sailing or ships. I am so pleased it worked out.
