Manila Envelopes in the Mail=Panic
May. 17th, 2006 08:09 pmWorked till midnight last night, and made some progress. I lose track of time when the juice is flowing. I'm putting in sections that are pre-written, which made me go from 180 pages to 230 pages real fast. (Sometimes I write scenes that I'm not to yet, and then put them in later)
Got two manila envelopes in the mail today, which nearly gave me a heart attack, thinking 'two refusals in one day'. Turned out it was my entries for the OWFI writing contest.
My fantasy short story got a B+, not bad since it was an early draft and hasn't even been through the Critters wringer yet. I need to work on it, but it's on the back burner for now.
My poetry got a C. It didn't rhyme. I have to admit, I wasn't attempting a rhyme--never do. I was working the meter between the two stanzas, trying to make the imagery symmetrical. Well, that evidently isn't good enough.
Good thing I'm not a poet.
Back to the grindstone.
