I've almost got the re-write of the 9K story done.  The structural changes are made (yes, the editor actually wanted a big enough change in one thing that 'structural changes' were called for.)  Now I've got to go back and check the words....you know, make certain they all work together like good kids (and I didn't leave any bad ones around).  Plus I need to shorten the swordfighting....

That will actually take much longer than it sounds like it should.  Then my reader will have to proof it for me ;o)

Worked on the WIP, another section that may end up on the floor, which is always frustrating, but I've discovered I do need to write those.  I hope that eventually I can learn to set up a novel without them, which would save me time....(I've also discovered that I pretty much have to do that with shorts...write the whole thing and then delete scenes.   It means I have a 'deleted scenes' file, kind of like a DVD. ;o)   )

Bought the plane tickets to Calgary last night.

I still have not heard about travel arrangements for the August WOTF workshop,  and so I haven't been able to buy my husband's tickets.  And the price is going up.........

I'm totally opposite. I always have to add to every story I write. I'm thinking that your method is the better of the two. I wonder if it has to do with personality. I've never been much of a talker--do introverted people write more lean prose?

My first pass tends to be action and dialog, and on the second pass, I have to go back and add description (and cut out excess dialog). Who knows. I figure whatever works best for you is best....

Well, your method sounds very similar to mine after all. I always have to go back and add description on the second pass. I think it's because I don't want to slow down on the first draft long enough to add it all in. Unfortunately, I'm still figuring out what works best for me.
