"The type of writing a query requires is so far removed from the kind of writing a fiction writer does that, to me, it’s the equivalent of a dancer going to audition for the role of The Sugar Plum Fairy, and being made to stand perfectly still and DESCRIBE her movements, rather than simply being allowed to dance. Unless that dancer, then, is also a singer and has a way with words, that dancer may (be) the most incredible Sugar Plum Fairy that troop will ever see, but the dance company will never know this."

This is credited to Sandra Kring, although I snabbled it from Folio's Blog. It made me feel better about the 'false' feeling I have about query letters. I said "Oh, this is exactly like a job interview...only on paper. I can do that."

Also, I'm not a big sports fan, but have you seen this one yet?

ETA: And as NA and I discussed below, it is believed to be a Gatorade ad....

That is a wonderful clip from Youtube. It was directed by someone, so I'm pretty sure it isn't real, but man it is great to watch. I had a blast watching it.

I think it's a Gatorade commercial, honestly...
