Everyone on my flist, it seems, has gone to see or wants to see Beowulf. Despite my English degree, I have no interest whatsoever.

Me, I wanna go see Enchanted.

Well, I for one would much rather see Enchanted than Beowolf.. So not 'everyone' I guess ^_^. Of course with a 19 month old, I will get to see neither.

We might see one movie the holiday season, so this seems like the least brain-damaging.

You just have to wait for the DVD....

I think we English majors have gotten burned by such films too many times in the past. Honestly, the only reason I'm planning to see Beowulf is because I love 3-D movies. :D

Point # 1....correct.
Point # 2....have to disagree. Don't like 3-D, so I'm not gonna see. ;o)

If I can afford it I'll see Enchanted. I'm with you Beowulf has no allure for me.

Yay! Kindred spirits!

I very much don't want to see Beowolf. The image capture tech creeps me out. Do not want. Also, from a still I saw, stilleto heels on the mother character? Why, god, why?

The image capture thing makes me think I'm stuck in a video game...which I don't like. I have to agree on every point. ;o)

My sister asked me over the weekend if I was going to see Beowulf and I told her no, but that she was right to assume I might want to. I'd see it if someone had the DVD and offered me food to come over and watch it.

However, Enchanted does look like fun!

Yeah, I'm thinking mindless entertainment.... ;o)

I'm with you. Enchanted looks like a fun rip of Disney. Beowulf--meh, not really interested.

Well, I soooo DON'T want to see Beowulf (the TV previews were bad enough), but I also don't want to see Enchanted.

Both are too hollywood for me. One with to much action and probably no story whatsoever, and the other one a sugar-coated pseudo-fairytale. I'll pass!

BTW, just yesterday I saw a fun little comedy on TV: "Dead by Monday", a Canadian-Swiss-German production.

I'll have to look that one up. We probably go to see movies in a theater 2 times a year...so we'd more likely do it as a rental. ;o)

I don't want to see Beowulf.

The animation on it is creepy, imho. Can't stand the promos.

That's what really turned me off. Ick! (But Angelina didn't help either)

I like Angelina Jolie.

If I saw people with that sort of motion and movement, I'd be thinking zombies.

I think I saw her in something that stuck with me, because she rubs me the wrong way. Sally Fields also does this to me. No idea pinpointed.

Someone compared Robin Wright's animation to a serious overdoes of Botox....so you're probably right about the zombies.

The animation is pretty cool when you're watching it in 3D. I'm not sure what I would think about it otherwise.

Enchanted. I've never heard of, but we've had the whole Seamus Heaney rewriting, or translation, or whatever it was, of Beowulf over here, and I now have suffered as much Beowulf out of my peripheral vision as I can endure. I can't even bring myself to read the reviews for it, I'm that over killed, so I don't even know if the film is meant to be good or bad.
On the other hand, one of the daily papers is giving away Fantasy DVDs and Arabian Nights looks really interesting. Must sit back some night and watch that. It's ages since I've had any kind of exposure to Arabian Nights.

We own the Seamus Heaney translation. Husband likes to read classics. :P

Enchanted looks silly and funny. Check brains at the door. I like that. ;o)

Beowulf is good if you don't expect it to match the epic poem.

Enchanted looks like so much fun!

I'd much rather see Enchanted.

I'm afraid I would have trouble watching Beowulf because I *would* want it to match the epic poem, which I read at the ripe old age of ten.

afraid so.

See, my mother had this trick -- she kept a copy in the car. This was in the days when you could still run into the store and leave the kid in the car.

Three of her four kids ended up reading it that way.

But in defense of my non-pure streak, I loved the Shrinklit version.

i find beowulf extremely visually unappealing -- and animation was my major. just... squick. i could listen to it. since neil gaiman wrote it i'm sure the writing will rock. but i just can't get past the uncanny valley/3d animation thing.
