The first draft of the revision of the first quarter of The King's Daughter is done. 133 pages, still needs smoothing. This is the part of the book that is getting sliced and diced, so I need to sit down and read it now. (2-4 just need cleaning). I think I will do so tomorrow, when I haven't been staring at it for hours.

Switched jogging to the mornings, but forgot how tired I am first off. Bleh...

Got paid by Sam's Dot publishing, which is nice. Still nothing from ASIM, but hoping....also, I figure since I haven't heard from WOTF, that a rejection is on the way....slowly.

Tired...

Aww, about the rejection; I should get mine in July, I think. I'd like to have something else ready to go, once I do.

Good for you about the revision, and for having so much done. I'm working through a first draft of my novel, and so far it seems okay, but I feel like no one's doing enough. Or has any point to anything. I'm afraid I don't have a book brain.

It's really odd about novels. If you're someone then you protag can sita round and do nothing for the first 253 pages (thinking of a specific book here). If you're a newbie, there has to be a dead body on the first page, it seems.

It's hard sometimes, because I like reading about my people when they sit around and chit-chat, I just don't know when other people like that. ;o)

Anyhoo, KD is much different from my other two in that it covers two years. That's a long time if you're not Jane Austen. No dead bodies until about 2/3 of the way through the book.

THey seem easier if you don't cover as much time.
DD covers ten days and has two dead bodies in the first chapter. WQ covers about six months, but only has one dead body in the first chapter. More crop up along the way.

(It's a thing, me and the dead bodies.)

KD is primarily the prequel to WQ, and therefore important. I don't know that it will ever be publishable. It may end up an e-book.

Are you a member of Critters? You could put it up for an RDFR, and get people to read it. (I would do so, if that's the case)

Yay for checks! Is Sam's Dot pretty good about paying punctually? (I like publishers that are good about paying promptly!)

They pay when published, but yeah, they're pretty prompt. Not a huge check, but still, anything is nice!

WOTF has posted semi-finalists on their blog (http://wotfblog.galaxypress.com/). I assume my reject is coming soonish, but I already have this quarter's entry ready for the mail this weekend.

But, yay, money!

Cool, thanks for the link. I checked there Monday, but they hadn't posted it yet.

Yeah, since I have only one other story ready, I suppose it will go there once I get it back from ASIM. of course, I'd rather ASIM decides to keep it.;o)
