Weekending....

j_cheneyOnce a month I have a weekend that's full of all social things. No, I wasn't around this week-end, didn't check my blog at all.
Saturday, Oklahoma Specualtive Fiction Syndicate met, talked plans for 2009, and discused the state of fandom in Oklahoma. Not my field. I'll let the guys handle it.
Church, then out to lunch, and then to the store, and then a bridal shower, and then Brother's Keepers Meeting (church function) after which the host showed us his collection of antique guns!!!!. (He's a retired marine, so I wasn't surprised to learn that he has guns.)
I'm not a gun officianado and if it's from later than 1900, it doesn't realy interest me, but the coolest piece was a lovely double barrel shotgun. Yep, an old-fashioned smooth bore weapon from pre-1850 with the double trigger/double hammer design. I've never seen one of those before as the double trigger went out of fashion fairly quickly. This one actually had a split trigger, rather than two completely separate triggers. It was extremely cool to actually see and handle one, though. (Because I put one in a novel ;o) although the gun in the novel was a rifle, instead (yes, there were a few double-trigger rifles made, although not many.)) He also had a nice 1880 Smith and Wesson 5-shot revolver. Well cared for. ;o)
Finished reading all the stuff to be critiqued. Brain tired now. Critique later.
