Well, my book basket is, as always, full.

I have a few left semi-completed from last year, as well as a few untouched.

Non-fiction?
I removed DNA in a tacit admission that I'm not going to read it, just keep it as a reference book. I'm currently supposed to be reading Beneath the Metropolis, but I'm really re-reading Martha Wells The Fall of Ile-Rien trilogy (since I just got fresh copies, and the writing is better.) On Killing is still in the basket.
Added new:
Storyteller by Kate Wilhelm
Head Cases by Michael Paul Mason
What's Next by Jane Buckingham

Fiction?
I still have to finish the last two stories in Clockwork Phoenix, and a handful in The Penguin Book of Vampire Stories. I've not yet started The Lone Star Stories Reader, but I'm pretty sure that will be a straight up winner.
Left over from last year, I have:
Valley of the Soul and Threads of Malice by Tamara Siler Jones.
Added new:
Heaven's Bones by Samantha Henderson
Reiffen's Choice by S. C. Butler
Lachlei and Serpent Singer by M.H. Bonham
Agents and Adepts by Kathryn Sullivan

I am never going to get caught up....

Oh, I've always wanted to read "Heaven's Bones". Will you post a review when you're done?

And "Storyteller" is really good craft advice, too.

Nice selection you have there, and no, you will never catch up, and neither will I. *g*

I don't usually do so, but I will for this ;o)
(I'm generally uncomfortable doing fiction....I don't know how you do it!)

I've had it for a while....just been dragging my feet. I'm not so polite when people are telling me what to do (In other words, I generally balk at 'how to write' books. I've never actually read one)

"On Killing" was an interesting one to read. I got two short stories out of that one, though only one of them sold. And I'm in the middle of "Heaven's Bones" right now. I'll be curious to hear what you think!

I've found a bunch of them are very instructive, but yeah, I don't like people telling me what to do, either. I'm still traumatised by a book on self-editing I got, which started from the assumption that there was only one right way to do things. Needless to say, I didn't get along very far...
I've just realised I don't read a lot of craft books anymore (though I still have a whole bookshelf of those....)

Cool, thanks!
I was uncomfortable, but that was before I started doing the Fix reviews regularly. Now I can hack and slash with the best :)

I just keep putting off "On Killing." I've heard it's pretty brutal, but I've also heard it's a real 'must read', so I'm determined to get it under my belt by the end of March.

And I am looking forward to Heaven's Bones, despite feeling a bit of trepidation (this coming from someone whose motto is "It's all about the dead bodies.")

I'm one of those people who hasn't gone to see Titanic....because so many people said You have to go see Titanic! Annoyed me terribly.

It's further down on the priorities list because of that.

I can totally see the logic of that, and I haven't been to se Titanic either. Perhaps we should form a Contrarian club?

Heaven's Bones is an odd one. I remember enough Ravenloft to recognize there's more going on here -- the mists, for instance -- but I'm still a little lost. Only halfway through the book though, so we'll see how it goes.

I recall seeing the word 'unfolding' in one of the reviews, a commentary on the writer's style of exposition, I think--so perhaps all will become clear as you go on...
