Yes, it took me a week to get the thing done. Not because I wasn't working on it, but because it was THAT HARD.
The editor asked me to do something that would entail a fairly radical structural shift. I had envisioned the POV as being stoic and enduring. Wasn't what that editor wanted. He wanted 'yearning'. To go from one to the other isn't simply a matter of inserting a few emo words. Instead I had to cut two scenes, add two, move one, and then massage what resulted several times to get the story arcs to work.
And if he asks for more, I'll probably do it.
(I have a record of 4 rewrites on one story by one editor.)
Now, back to the WIP, and perhaps I can get something cleaned up enough to send it to CP2 in August....
