Words/Lumber/Hiatus
Jun. 20th, 2008 02:24 pmGot some more words done on the WIP last night. Probably just 2K again, but now they're catching a train to Perisen, where K is going to finally find out what's going on...so that's progress, right?
I'm wishing I knew more about marketing channels in 1905, particularly lumber. Anyone an expert on getting lumber to market with turn-of-the-century technology? I'm assuming that the lumber mills load lumber onto wagons to cart it to rail stations, where it's loaded onto rail cars by.....what do we call it? A winch? A crane? The large stationary booms used in loading and shipbuilding...What are they called?
ETA: Did some guided searching and found it was, indeed, referred to as a crane. They had steam cranes which would come up alongside the rail car and load it. Now I know.... ;o)
Dog and I chose not to walk today, giving our feet a day off.
