Do any of you feel that irrational fear that a publisher will reject your novel just because you bugged them to checked on its status?
This morning I girded up my loins and decided to query about the novel sub I have out...which has been out for about 15 months. This fills me with terror. I know they got the thing, and honestly, I'm not too surprised I haven't heard back yet, but I felt I needed to check. What if they rejected it and my spamblocker ate the e-mial? (Now, I'm 95% confident that's not the case, but I'm checking for the nervous 5%).
Also, it's red on Duotrope, and digital peer pressure is making me do it.
I checked on the 200-day story and verified that they do still have the thing (a lovely automated system). I'm trying to find my response e-mail for the 230-day one (because I did get one), although I've heard that the market there never bothers to respond to queries.
All my other submissions are still within the window of 'reasonableness'.
Wrote a little over 2K on the new story last night. Should be on SOTF, but the plot bunny was nibblimng my ear.
