Confusion

So, I'm back working on that first draft, which I've honestly almost finished, and I'm back working with a creature whose gender changes from time to time. It's giving me POV headaches.

SO for POV, we have Llelas, who considers the creature 'it' even though he calls it Grandfather and knows that it's actually his great-grandmother. We have Ellis, who's finally figured out that it's not male exactly and has settled on 'it' in her mind as well. And then we have Julia, who calls it 'he' when it's male and 'she' when it's female. (because that's the way she thinks about Arras)

To make matters worse, I have two of these critters in the same room, which means I have 'it's flying all over my pages, and I keep having to go back and say "Did I just write 'he'?"

My head is spinning. Why did I do this to myself?
