Wind has been lousy for two days now, but were now having gusts in excess of 60....and the storm isn't even near the city yet (although we just got stuck on tornado watch).

We've already lost a main trunk of the river birch this evening. Drat. We lost one in the ice storm back in December, too.

And this weather is predicted to last ALL week-end. The back yard fence is swaying badly enough to make me worry. And power is iffy. So I'm shutting down for the night.

Whine whine whine....

We're currently wondering if we're gonna get to work the EOC this weekend up here in South Dakota. The wonder of working for Govt. I was wondering if I was going to have to hold my grandaighter's hand to keep her from flying away.

Tornado alley is so much fun, isn't it? Glad you moved?

considering that Virginia has come under tornado watch more often than south dakota this year, yeah still glad I moved. Growing up on the east coast I don't ever remember a tornado there. The world's changing.

You have a point there....

We had a blow here yesterday like nothing I have ever seen. I killed someone down county and power has been out for 24 hours in other areas. No fun with storms, that is for sure.

Storms so bad you snapped, huh? (Sorry, couldn't resist.)

Actually, I can commiserate. A week of howling winds is enough to send one over the edge.

Just been a wild spring...

Killing people is bad, BTW

Eep. Here's hoping everything on your end stays up, attached, and in one piece.

Other than the tree losing a lot of branches, we survived just fine. The wobbly fence is still standing. Neighbor lost some shingles...

Thanks for the good thoughts!

Send it here. Man! Every time we have forecasts for rain, it disappears before it hits Bismarck. We had a whole half inch this last week. Ooh! Big whoop. We're more than a couple inches below the norm. We're so desperate for precipitation it's horrible.

(I just finished the rewrite I was working on. I can tell I'm in YA mode still.)

I hope you get fair skies by the weekend and less wind. (I hate excessively windy days. We've had way too many this spring.)

Okay, now I'm whining. Time to get to bed.

Sorry about the contagious weather whine...

I would send rain north if I could ;o)

You must have done something. We've had almost an inch in the last twelve hours :)

Yay! I hope it doesn't turn into flooding...

No worries about that here. Not only are we beyond the river valley, but we also live on a hill.

Well, we lost a little bit of one of the Birch main trunk lines. The tree looks battered, but not as bad as it did during the ice storm. At least, that's my take given a very quick looksee this morning on the way to work. Could have been much worse!

Yeah, and at least the back neighbor's birch didn't collapse on our fence!

There, there.

But you know, it's not like you didn't get ample warning about the wind situation:

"Oooooooklahoma, where the wind comes sweeping down the plain . . ."

They put it in a song, that pretty much says it's a major issue. ;)

'Tis but one reason I left Kansas City during a blizzard on January 2, 1974, headed to the West Coast, and never looked back.

The number of storms seem worse than "normal" this year. Would you agree, or have I been away too long?

No, the news has been all over that. We've already gone past the annual average in OK, and it's only early June (and we still have the little season in October).

I think we've noted that more of the storms have also shown up in places that don't normally get tornados...and aren't as praticed at warning for them.

Hopefully the summer die down will come soon ;o)
