Less Complicated...

[livejournal.com profile] marthawells commented that she needs to make her plots less complicated. ::sigh:: It's a sad thing when one has to make a plot simple in order to make it saleable.

One of my favorite authors, Ansen Dibell, wrote 5 novels in the High King of Kantmorie series. The plot was complicated, half-way between science-fiction and fantasy, and wonderful. The first three novels came out from DAW, the last two were never even published in English, only French and Dutch. ::sighing again:: (If anyone has either of those in French, please let me borrow! I was looking at one on-line, and it was selling for 93 Euros....two days before Dibell passed away. I haven't had the nerve to hunt for them since. They've probably only gotten more expensive.)

I got my newest Kim Richey CD. Evidently I listen to "alternative country" now.

Vol. 5 (le soleil du grand retour) sells for 15 euros on priceminister. Want me to order it?

Wow!

Sure! It even looks like it's a limited edition. That would be great. I'm not in a rush, though, so if you can't right now, that's OK. I can pay you through Paypal. ;o)

It's actually volume four that's the pricey one (Aux confins de l'ouragan). That was the one running at 93 Euros. I just haven't found a price I'm willing to pay for that one.

Nothing wrong with alt-country (sez the guy listening to a 1960s jananese surf-guitarist play classical music).

Pffft! I can't even imagine that!

It's like The Venturas meets Beethoven.

Complications

Yes, it is a sad day in the world when we start having to down dress our work. One of my best friends is a professor at Ball State University. Each semester he asks the class of incoming freshmen to answer this question, 'Which came first, the revolutionary or civil war?' Less than a half, usually around 46% can answer the question correctly. This is our future, and now we have to write for them...

Oh, Heavens!! You would think that you could at least use logic to figure that one out. That's so sad.

'Logic' probably cost them the 4% below the 50/50 mark, because a guess should at least get the class to 50% ^_^
