At long last, I present the table of contents for Shimmer -- The Pirate Issue:

A Hand for Each by J. Kathleen Cheney
Captain Blood's B00ty by Jeremiah Tolbert
The Blackguard of God by Melinda Selmys
Come to the Islands by Mikal Trimm
Interview: An Inconvenient Pirate by Jen West
The Barbary Shore by James L. Cambias
Pirates by Adeline Thromb Age 8 by Marissa K. Lingen
The Sweet Realm by Jill Snider Lum
The Furies by Rajan Khanna
The Perfect Hook by Justine Graykin
Hard Times for Bartleby Crow by Grant Stone

This was a lot of fun to put together. I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished product (and the artwork by James Owen!), and to hearing what people think of the stories.

I'm just glad to finally see who all's in it. The only other one I knew about was Mikal....so I've sort of been waiting with 'bated breath. Looks like a fun group!

Congrats, TOC Mate!

I see you have attended James Gunn's workshop several times. I'm from Lawrence, and growing up as a kid there, I attended a youth writing workshop where he spoke and told all of us (basically) to give up writing. It was hilarious, because the pitch he gave us was basically "get used to rejection," but none of us had heard of it and a lot of the other kids were very upset. Despite trying to discourage us, he offered to read our stories and send us comments if we mailed them to him. I did, and I received great feedback. I look forward to meeting him again some day so I can thank him.

Congrats to you, too! I'm really pumped about this issue (Yes, I realize I should be using pirate-speak, but I'm terrible at it.)

Yes, James Gunn is great (and very much a gentleman).
I'm hoping to get back there next year, but my schedule never agrees with what I want.
