Only, I had the same issue with Sunset, and then the place I got his special food closed, and he couldn't tolerate another brand. Different Vet told me ordinary cat food would suffice, provided it followed certain guidelines (in this case, less than 3% ash.) Turned out there was a Dad's cat food that worked for him. Cut the cat food bills by 80%, and he's healthier than ever.
Not saying you could be so lucky with Loki (doesn't Loki make his own luck?) but it might be worth checking into.
