Just for now....

My nails are hard and my skin looks....well, decent. (I have acne rosacea, which is fairly mild most of the time, but on occasion flares up. The doc and I have discussed medication for this, but I don't want to be on a chronic med if I don't really need it.)

I wish I could say I knew to what I could attribute this temporary state....because I would do it all the time. However, a couple of months ago, I did start switching out "Hair, Skin, and Nails" vites with my multi, every other day. The chance that that's the real explanation is dubious, in my mind

Hasn't done much for my hair, either. Still straw-like. I wonder if it's time to stop dying the stuff.*

[livejournal.com profile] displacedtexan brought home a copy of The Guardian (only a week old). Should be an interesting supplement to The Ecomomist.

The bunny's been working up some freaky ideas lately, including the one where there's a serial killer....but he's not actually the story's bad guy. Weird.

*high fives*

I have acne rosacea too. It's been hideously bad in the past. I tried all sorts of natural cures and then went complete Western medicine bomb-it-into-submission route, and right now it's in remission (can you say that?) and so I'm off the meds.

Have you thought about hidden food intolerances? There a little bit "out there" w/respect to conventional medicine, but rosacea is exactly the sort of thing you hear people talking about clearing up when they took something out of their diet. Is there anything you normally eat that you haven't been for the past four days or so? Did you run out of milk or bread?

I wish I could stop dying my hair but now I have some gray hairs.

I have all that *and* wrinkles. I'm surprised there's enough room on my face for features.

I love a good skin day, and yay for nice nails! Hair, I don't know; you put enough product on it and even straw looks good :D

Seaweed is good for nails. If you like it it's a good snack.

Don't eat too much vit k though. A vegetarian friend of mine ate too much and had to go on coumadin because her blood was so clotted.

I eat blueberry bagels but I'm a carb addict. I'd rather exercise than diet but right now I won't eat cookies, cakes or cream cheese. I'm not adding but I'm not losing either.

Sushi is high protein low fat but too much and you get mercury poisoning. I was eating a lot of salmon after my last diverticular flare up but I noticed it was farm raised so I'm off fish for a month or two to clear out any high levels of mercury.

They cat scanned my vege. friend twice in one month and now her thyroid's messed up. She's on thyroid meds. Maybe for the rest of her her life. So they're not giving me another cat scan for at leat 2 years. I don't care how sick I get.

I have rosacea too but I don't wear makeup anymore. Unless it's for a day or night or two on spec. occasions. Why? Make up is expensive and most men don't wear it so why should I. I don't like re-applying it anyway. I like over the counter facials with vitamen e if I can find them. Peels. That closes the pores. Wash make up off with hot water b4 bed and rinse with cold water to close the pores. Just plain soap. No astringents. No clogging moisturizers. Just soap and water. During the day you can use sunblock mositurizers. That helped me.
