I've found a bunch of them are very instructive, but yeah, I don't like people telling me what to do, either. I'm still traumatised by a book on self-editing I got, which started from the assumption that there was only one right way to do things. Needless to say, I didn't get along very far... I've just realised I don't read a lot of craft books anymore (though I still have a whole bookshelf of those....)
