Non-process post, aren't you relieved?

Just a handful of notes today: (Which implies another long-winded process post tomorrow)

1) Beneath Ceaseless Skies has its new issue up, which includes a story from [livejournal.com profile] snickelish. Yay!

2) Have you read the Clockwork Phoenix anthology or the Lone Star Stories Reader? If you have, you might want to consider going over to Amazon (or any of the other on-line book retailers) and putting in a review.
(In the interest of full disclosure, I haven't done so yet. I have 2 more stories in CP to read and haven't yet started the LSSR. I'm not big on reviewing fiction, but I'll make an exception in this case...but I must finish reading first.)

3) Is it me, or are posts popping up way back in yesterday's flist that weren't there before? I'm hoping that this is an after-effect of the switchover, and not just my mind going.

4) About the NAME MEME going around. Uh....just be careful that you're not putting up all the answers to your on-line security questions. I did note that none of them asked for mother's maiden name, but I did see "father's middle name", "mother's middle name", "street you lived on as a child", "town you grew up in"....that kind of thing. Just play safely, folks.

Yeah, that occurred to me on the name meme too -- I saw they asked for first pet's name. That's a pretty common security question, I think.

Re: #3. I think it's your mind going. (No, I'm just kidding!)

:oP The mind's not....oh, shiny!

I haven't seen the meme, yet, but it really is amazing the questions. I was being asked over the phone, filling out a bill-pay type thing, and she'd asked for my mother's maiden name. Good grief! It was a deal-breaker, and probably was perfectly fine and needed for the situation, but I found another way to go anyway, and don't regret it.

Good caution suggestion, for sure.

Husband's in banking security...I have to think about these things.

You're a peach! But, I think you'd be thinking along these lines even without your husband.

Are you saying that I'm naturally suspicious?

[identity profile] ericmarin.livejournal.com 2008-11-20 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks very much, Jeannette! :-)

[identity profile] j-cheney.livejournal.com 2008-11-20 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
You're welcome ;o)

[identity profile] amsaph.livejournal.com 2008-11-20 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't seen the meme, but I probably wouldn't have even thought of security stuff. Thanks for the reminder :)

You're welcome ;o)

#1 - You knew before I did! Scott sent me an email this morning to let me know. *g*

[identity profile] j-cheney.livejournal.com 2008-11-20 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
He actually told me I'm going up 12/18, but that was in an e-mail about something else ;o)

I'll read later today!

[identity profile] snickelish.livejournal.com 2008-11-20 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh, so we'll be sharing a TOC! Er, that is, he said the podcast of my story is going 12/18.

[identity profile] j-cheney.livejournal.com 2008-11-20 04:47 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I promise, it's sad...

(I was raised 'no dancing'. I never learned)

Thanks for the plug!

And, yeah, I've seen a lot of questionaires circling around that gradually wheedle really vital information out of naive participants. Not cool.

You're welcome ;o)

I don't think this originated as a PHISH, but it certainly serves as one...
