Various and Sundry #3?

1) It would appear the WOTF24 is NOT being released today, despite Amazon's claim to the contrary. Someone at WOTF mentioned 'October' to me the other day...so perhaps....

2) A lot of people chimed into the REJECTION POLL yesterday. Other that wishing I'd set it up as 'answer as many as appropriate', people gave me a lot of mature and thought-provoking answers.

The top answers were:
1) Get the story back out within 1 hour (or some reasonable time frame)
2) Varies as to story or market (and many people here cited holding time as well)
3) Diligently report to the [livejournal.com profile] ra_log, Duotrope, Black Hole, etc...
4) Cry like a baby, put down the pen for a month, and then get back to it.

You are such mature people!

Only three people joined me in the ritual consumption of fig newtons, although a few others recommended foodstuffs of other sorts for consolation (and then there are those people with will-power who are on a diet...what's that?). One person did mention wandering around the house like a dinosaur (a dinosaur with an identity disorder, no less).

The favored recommendation came from [livejournal.com profile] maryrobinette who suggested using the rejection slips for papier mache. (She also needs your socks today, so drop by her blog and read about that). Various suggesions here for uses of papier mache, but I'm still going to hold out for the pinata....

3) From the so-factual horoscope today: You may find it hard to deal with people today, since they may be a bit spacey in general. No, seriously?

::rolls eyes::

4) Got 3K written last night, watched Dark City. Never seen it before, interesting.

5) Seriously laughed this week-end when we watched The Road Warrior. In the end credits it says the 'warrior woman' was played by Virginia Hey.

Me: Wow, I didn't recognize her. She had eyebrows.
Husband: And she wasn't blue...and she had hair...

I guess I shouldn't feel too bad then.

6) Gonna go make pillowcases.

I watched Dark City last weekend for the third time (first was at the cinema). Despite the rather "functional" acting and some wire-work that doesn't (work), it remains one of my favourite SF movies. I love the atmosphere, the weirdness, the plot, the conceptual breakthrough, the fact that it is "interesting". It actually *feels* like adult SF as opposed to a superhero CGI-fest. I wish there were more movies like that.

I certainly think it was worth purchasing. I'm not certain I'll watch it again soon, but perhaps later ;o)

LOL! I've only ever seen her on Farscape. Hmm...must check imdb now...

I would certainly never have made the connection...

Dude, i never would have guessed that, at all.

I guess both things were filmed in Australia though?

Yep ;o)

Both DARK CITY and the ROAD WARRIOR are classics.

Didja realize that the gyrocaptain in the ROAD WARRIOR is also one of the three flying guys out of DARK CITY?

Yes, much cleaner though ;o)
