I'm still living in my post-con exhaustion world. (And I have to socialize tonight, which stinks). On the other hand, unlike the last con I went to which wrung me out and left me too disgusted to write for a week or so, I came out of this one wanting to write.

Not today mind you, I'm too tired. But I'm rared up good for the next few months.

Not the panels. Not the fans. Certainly not the two goofy guys who kept lecturing the people at the panels...and the panelists (once even when a panelist was speaking). Not the fourth-grader who told me that J.K. Rowling only got published in the first place because she gave the editor of Rolling Stone a six-pack of beer (although that is a handy thing to know).

No, the other writers there made me feel like coming home and typing (once I've rested). They were all so friendly and nice even though I wasn't on any of the panels.

I actually got to talk for some time with one of my writing idols, [livejournal.com profile] marthawells, hung out with the marvelously welcoming [livejournal.com profile] bev_hale, didn't get to talk enough with [livejournal.com profile] reudaly, my fellow [livejournal.com profile] ra_log maintainer. And there was [livejournal.com profile] rachelcaine and Kathi Kimbriel, and [livejournal.com profile] sewedel and Craig Wolf and [livejournal.com profile] aelle33 whom I haven't seen in a while. There were a ton of marvelous people there.

I definitely decided I should ask to be put on some panels next time I go to one of these things, because I discovered I would certainly not be the least published....

Too bad Albacon isn't closer for you. I'll bet they'd love to have you as a panelist.

Out of the mouth of babes, as they say. Damn, why do they keep these publishing essentials so well hidden? :D
Anyway. glad you enjoyed the con. Is this the one you were dithering about? I also found the best thing was the meeting people.

Yep, I was dithering...

And the six-pack suggestion, while of questionable authority, can't hurt. ;o)

I'm not buying the six pack of beer, unless it was consumed and then something else was given afterward... now that I might consider.

So what happened at the previous con that made you put up your pencils and pens for more than a week??

Ugh, don't get me started on the audience members interrupting or even almost hijacking panels...

Hijacking...exactly. ::rolls eyes::

Just a bad critiquing experience. Sometimes that happens. No more writer's workshops.

Hey, it was great seeing you, too! Wish you could've stayed longer. The puns got WORSE.

BTW, go check out [livejournal.com profile] alfreda89, I think you'll recognize her.

What panels do you think you'd like to be on? I'd think that would be a very surreal experience.

I've been lucky with the few cons I've gone to that there were wonderful audiences. Weird goofy guys, for sure; as if people care what they think. They should ask my sister to go, she'll tell them to shut up LOL

How cool that you're all charged up to write, though! That's the main thing, the great thing about conventions. Too bad about the one before, though, too bad! What happened?--otoh, never mind, as it's better not to think about it *g*

At Conestoga, I asked to be on blogging, rejection, and WOTF panels....probably the things I know about.

Wonder of those were the same two guys that were in the audience of a panel I was on? Oy.
