4 - Hmm, I didn't think I'd actually posted anything about VP until I was accepted - though I was anxious about going as the date approached.

6 - Between the two of us we did, though I probably had more. The dry ice makes things difficult - you can't really sip the remaining droplets off the dry ice like you can with regular ice (because sucking up dry ice is not pleasant). I hope that's the "whole thing" you were referring to ;)

Hmmm, for some reason I thought that you and she were discussing that.

Actually, when I was in Glasgow last year, I only ran across one I couldn't comprehend, but boy, there are some seriously thick accents there!

Yeah, central Glasgow's not too bad in that respect. Also, Scots generally speak much more clearly to outsiders than to other natives.

As for my own accent, which would have been a Fife (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fife) accent if I hadn't moved away from Scotland so early, reactions range from "wow, you actually kept your Scottish accent after all these years," to "you're from Scotland?" There doesn't seem to even be a discernible pattern regarding who has what reaction.
