Silly Happiness...

One of the people running through ABNA entries gave me a 5/5 today.

OK, so far this reveiwer's only given 4s and 5s, but I'm pleased I'm not one of the fours.

What? Yes, I realize this will probably not affect the contest outcome. But I have to be pleased anyway. Gotta grab the little victories when there aren't any big ones around.

This wonderful excerpt introduces us to Shironne, a blind girl with a special gift: she can read feelings, thoughts, perhaps even memories. The writing is assured, the story gripping (Shironne is helping to investigate a murder) and the world, both similar to and different from our own, offers many mysteries to tempt the imagination. I was most impressed with how vivid the descriptions are, as they are carefully presented from Shironne's point of view: that is, without visuals. Shironne herself, with her difficult father, "tainted" blood and desire to contribute to the world despite her blindness, is a lovely and compelling heroine.

So nice of her..

That's a fine review, that is!

Well, then, we want her to win a Kindle, right? Because she's nice?

Hmmm.... sounds like she thinks it's more like Survivor than American Idol? "Let's make an alliance and stab everyone else in the back, then stab each other in the back?"

I mean, aside from the obvious disconnect, it also sounds like she's maybe expecting you to turn around and give her a good review?
