Thanks to everyone who came by and patted me on the head the other day. I'm in a far better mood now, and am trying to consider the whole thing as a learning experience. Still, it's nice to know you have friends who care. ;o) The stages of being a writer are currently posted over on
nancyfulda's blog, which reveals it as a rollercoaster existence. I had just hit the bottom of one of the hills Friday, so now I'm grinding my way back up.
Hmmm...the con. I got to meet some really nice people at the con, and got to meet some in the flesh that I usually only know virtually. Learned beaucoups about pod-casting. I got about 2K written, but fully knowing that it might be dropped out of the story I'm on once I get teh outline finalized.
I'm not a big partier, don't drink, and I am a believer in good sleep hygeine. Therefore, I'm the person who leaves the con parties at 10:30, goes back to the room, and sticks my fingers in my ears in order to get some sleep. Not too surprisingly, I didn't see any of the con people in the Fitness Room at 6:15. Actually, I was alone there. I'm weird.
I read a great deal in the down-periods, and have gotten about 3/4 of the way through that Dibell book. I decided that if I just read without trying to understand every word, then I can get about 95% through context. The downside of this is that the whole purpose of reading in French is to expand my vocabulary, and this method doesn't really help with that. Therefore, I think that once I've finished the book, I'll go back and do the slow word-by-word reading with FE dictionary in hand.
