Baen's Bar...a few days in....
Jul. 10th, 2006 04:45 pmWell, I now have a much better idea how Baen's Bar works. It's a bit baffling (rather like my first few weeks of Critters), but I think it's a good system over all.
You submit your story in one place, and then set up a comments post in another. (Actually the instructions for that are pretty clear). What happens after that? Well, I found the instructions a little vague in that area, but Sam Hidaka has an LJ post which gives links to all the appropriate places to figure out what is going on.
It's strangely like sitting in a room full of readers and getting their critiques, because they post to the Slush Comments Forum. Unlike Critters, you get to interact with them more, trying to work out exactly what weaknesses your story has! Kind of nice way to work....
So, later this week I'll do a re-write, incorporate the ideas and corrections needed, and try to do so without infodumping. I really don't want to add hundreds of word to this. My goal is not to let it get above 9K, which gives me about eighty words of flexibility.
