Various Stuff and Fencon

Once again, WOTF24 did not release today....I heard someone say 10/10, although I think that would be an odd day of the week to release.

I have family visiting, student came yesterday for tutoring, got a rejected story tweaked and back off to a new market, went to visit with in-laws. Little tiny bit on the PB story, but since Thursday was the last day I worked on it, I had to re-read it a bit. Will try to get more on that done today. I have a book coming with pics of historical Saratoga Springs and a bit of the history of the town so I don't make any major setting gaffes.

FenCon?

I enjoyed Fencon much more this year. Last year had some lousy angst attached (which started my whole "I'll never workshop again" spiral).

This year I had a shiny "Program Participant" badge and sat on a few panels. The first one, "Defending the Creative Life", was actually the most fun. We laughed throughout, mostly due to the combination of Candace Havens, Libby Smith Singleton, and David Lee Anderson. They meshed really well--plus Rosemary Clement-Moore was in the front row, providing hilarious moral support (she is a really funny woman, folks!).

I got to meet several some flisters in the flesh, which was interesting as well. That's always fun. (I generally don't list these because I always forget someone important and then feel horribly guilty--and I don't need the guilt. I've got enough of that this week already.)

So, some important things I'm reminded of this week-end...
a) CatsCurious Press (editor [livejournal.com profile] sonyamsipes) is about to put out the Fairy Tale project (with stories by [livejournal.com profile] ckastens and [livejournal.com profile] jimhines). You should put this on your 'To Buy' list. ;o)
b) ArmadilloCon 31 is coming up August 17-19, 2009 (already mailed in my form, [livejournal.com profile] spielmadchen) and they have a special $25 membership rate (going through the end of October, I think.)
c) It's October already?
d) Melbourne was given the bid for WorldCon 2010. We're starting to save up money now. Yes, we're going to try to go.
e) [livejournal.com profile] displacedtexan is very patient with my little writing hobby.
f) [livejournal.com profile] reudaly is cool, as always--and she and [livejournal.com profile] nimrodjcs have interesting Halloween plans. Despite using the GPS, we culdn't find the coffee shop. I'm an idiot, I admit it.
g) I need to take a notebook just to write down names.
h) Discovery Channel rocks. (Mythbusters Marathon)
i) The Austin, Dallas, and Houston folk are super great.
h) I must consider ConDFW. Will have to carefully review con plans for next year.
i) One the last day of the con, several of the women I talked to had devolved down to Converse sneakers, all of us wearing cushion insoles with them. Converse should consider fluffing up. Seriously.

I'll probably think of more stuff later. I'll go walk the dog....that'll get my brain going.

Glad you enjoyed FenCon. Being one our two local cons, I'm quite proud of their efforts. ConDFW is always a lot of fun too, so I'm sure you'd have a good time there as well.

"It's October already?" needs to be in there twice. Serious! It's October already?

We enjoyed having breakfast with you and Mr. [livejournal.com profile] j_cheney. And thanks for being part of the bracelet kharma wheel. [livejournal.com profile] renegade500 and I will explain that more coherently in a day or two. 8-)

Sounds like fun! I think it's going to be several years before I can go to another one, so I love living them vicariously through my f-list :)

I have faith in you, and in that little writing thing you do! I'm just glad I can provide some modicum of support.
