Facebook/GoodReads

So, I've set up a Facebook account, as well as a GoodReads account. I don't know that I'm ever going to use them, and I have some doubt that I'll have much time for them---but I've got my place staked out now.

Did my proofs for WOTF. They wanted to change 'derailment' to 'derailleur' (which was incorrect, so I asked them to change it back) but pretty much otherwise, they just made punctuation changes. Glad that's done.

ETA: No, I had it backwards originally, and they changed it, and then changed it back, and then sent another PDF that had it correct, so I'm going to step out and let them handle everything. I'm confused....

No MySpace. Not now. Not ever.

I'm on both as well, so free to friend me. Barbara Barnett-Stewart on Facebook, just Barbara Barnett on Goodreads.

I'm on Facebook. I would love it if you added me as a friend. I'm on Facebook under Richard H. Fay.

Facebook is a bit crazy, but it can be fun. However, it can be a time-sucker, too.

My question -- why did you join Facebook? I've had a Facebook account for a while, but I tend to think of it as being part of my work life, work friends, a few old friends, etc. I've thought about connecting there with people I know from LJ or writing, but my concern is that it will all kind of blend together, even moreso than it does now. I'm not sure if this is a meaningful or valid worry, but it's there.

I'm going to have to go to the dark side eventually. If my YA novels ever get picked up, I'm going to have to troll for readers on facebook and myspace.

I suddenly feel very old.

I agree about MySpace. Never!

I loathe MySpace. Loathe.

Inexplicable, but there it is.

A friend got me onto Facebook and I'm still trying to figure out when to use it...

Please excuse this little rant.

Just because you brought My Space up... it is the only website that constantly thinks I am Spanish. Chinese I'd understand, 'cuz I'm in Taiwan, but I've never been to Spain and hell I've only been to Mexico for a few days. My computer sure as hell hasn't been to either of those places, nor have I ever set my computer to a Spanish setting, but every time go to visit a writer's My Space it's like
Ola! or whatever...mmm, aggravating. So in conclusion, I don't like My Space either. :-)

Facebook is not too bad, but watch out it can be a time leech!
I know people who spend hours on it and collect friends like they were relics in a Korean online RPG.
